
hi peepz 💖 so i've been thinking of giving openmbu a fresh logo. the one we've got rn was just me messing around quick and honestly it doesn't really hit the vibe i want. i've got a few ideas floating around but if u ever feel like helping out or wanna design something for us, just hmu on email, twitter, discord, or even drop a comment here.
alsooo i think it'd be super fun to play around w/ marble blast mascots like an anime-style girl + boy duo to give the game a lil identity, kinda like how windows 7 had nanami madobe, an official promo character. something like that would make openmbu way more recognizable and playful. so yeah, open invite if u wanna contribute ✨
i'm super into y2k styles + aesthetics. bold shiny stuff full of energy. since mbu came out in 2006, anything leaning into that look would fit perf and get extra love from me ![]()
u'll have total creative freedom but i'll drop some notes for the logo + mascots so u don't waste time if i'm not vibing w/ something. pls show me concepts before finalizing so no one's effort goes to waste.

✨ logo notes ✨
- keep it stylized: no realistic renders or photoreal marbles/text
- inspo: stylized logos like sonic game titles capture the energy i'd like. sonic heroes' logo text is one of my fave (punchy + recognizable + gorgeous shiny silver tone)
- fonts: chunky, wide, heavy, bubbly all fit marble blast's vibe. i love sonic heroes' font, but use whatever feels right... ok fine, just use the sonic heroes one, i'm obsessed with it anyway
- text layout: "OpenMBU" as one word feels energetic, stacked version works too for alt layouts
- game elements: add something recognizable like a marble, blast effect, trail, gems, or even ultra blast powerup to convey speed + energy. these elements should be grouped together so they can also work as a standalone emblem
- colors: silver + gold look fab, silver + blue also works. experiment freely
- marble textures: if u need them, check the game's texture folder. heart marble = fave, default blue marble works too
- overall feel: logo should be instantly recognizable + memorable
- project files: please share the editable project files so we can make adjustments or updates later
💖 mascot notes 💖
- vibe: y2k aesthetics. 2000s character designs. bold, shiny, playful, full of personality
- girl: y2k fashion (chunky rhinestone belts, goth/emo/scene touches). jewelry + layered accessories = rebel baddie energy. bubblegum adds to her flirty energy, but it's more of a sometimes detail. her outfit should feature a touch of cleavage within a confident silhouette, giving her an attractive presence that feels bold n alive
- boy: y2k skater/casual style. dark hoodie works great as a staple piece. light emo/goth ok but not heavy. hacker/techy vibes welcome. no piercings/tats
- personal symbol: "GO" + 5 have always been super special to me since i was lil. "GO" = motion, energy, fun. 5 = japanese "go." together they vibe as joy, love, positivity. GO! and chunky numbers popped up often in 2000s sonic games and fanart. would be perfect if they show up on the girl's, boy's, or both of their outfits/jewelry/accessories like go, GO, GO!, GO GO GO!, FIVE, FIVE!, 5, 555. i also love 000, x, xxx, xox, xoxo, luvluvluv, babie, babieee, kisskiss, mwahhh, muahhh, LUV U + other flirty y2k slang words and phrases for that baddie energy
- inspo: hitomi (dead or alive 4 & 5), misa amane, marin kitagawa, lynae (wuthering waves), grok's ani. these are just inspos, not strict requirements, there are tons of examples of y2k fashion in anime style out there to draw from
- marble blast theme: mascots should tie to mbu. ex: holding a marble like a pokeball or even repping mbu references like the names of powerups
- ai use: ai is totally cool as long as style stays consistent + polished. if u make a way for us to generate more images of the same character that'd be super sweet
