it's been a while. over a year, actually. i didn't mean to go quiet for this long but, well... life happened.
the past few years have been a whirlwind. beautiful in some ways, heavy in others, and a lot of it just... personal. i don't really share much about my private life online anymore, especially not these days, but let's just say a lot's been happening.
i know a lot of you, especially in ocean palace, have wondered where i disappeared to. saying i've been busy doesn't feel honest. it doesn't explain the silence or the unanswered msgs, especially when i was still popping up on twitter. the truth is, life got messy and overwhelming and a little too real. it pulled me into a place where i couldn't bring myself to share like i used to. the best thing i can do now is just be real about it.
a few years back, i lost my mom. it was sudden and unexpected, one of those moments that flips your whole world upside down in a second. she was healthy, full of life, and then she was gone. and just when i was starting to adjust to life without her, about a year later, i lost an old school friend. that one hit me harder than i expected. it felt like life kept throwing heartbreak after heartbreak at me, and i was just trying to stay afloat. it was a harsh reminder of just how fragile everything is. for a while, i felt like i was drifting, carrying all this pain and not really knowing what to do with it.
on top of that, i noticed i'd lost weight without even trying. stress just drained me. i wasn't eating properly, i had no energy. it didn't last long, thankfully, but it was enough to make me realize i needed to reset.
staying in one place, stuck in my thoughts, wasn't helping. i kept thinking about how important it is to stay connected with the people who actually matter. so i made some changes. i got out, traveled, spent time with family, reconnected with old friends i hadn't seen in forever. life moves so fast that suddenly years go by and you're like... how did i lose touch with everyone i care about. it felt like the right time to fix that and get back to what really matters.
around this time, i picked up kickboxing. something i never expected to love as much as i do now. my family had been into it for years and kept nudging me to try it. i finally gave in, and i'm so glad i did. i've never been someone who can sit around all day. staying active has always been my thing. i've been jumping rope since my teens. but i wanted something new, something that pushed me physically and mentally.
kickboxing ended up being exactly what i needed. it became my escape. a way to channel emotions i didn't know how to express, let go of everything weighing me down, and just feel strong. there's something about throwing punches, even at the air, that's insanely therapeutic. it clears my mind, lifts my mood, and makes me feel empowered in a way i didn't expect.
it's had such a huge impact on me. i look different, i feel different. i am different. better than i was a few years ago. my confidence, my energy, my mindset... all of it shifted. i love how my body looks and feels now more than ever. kickboxing changed me, and i'm sticking with it for years to come.
so yeah. life's been chaotic, full of ups and downs, but there's been beauty in the quiet moments too. those little pauses between everything.
i know i haven't been around much in ocean palace or on discord. my twitter might've made it seem like everything was fine, but honestly, there were times i thought about stepping away from that too.
ever since 2009 ended, i haven't felt at home online. the internet and the world just aren't the same anymore. there was a time when everything felt exciting. when being online had warmth and magic. those early 2000s vibes were unmatched.
what once felt alive and fun has turned into something darker and unsettling. online culture's shifted so much, and society feels unrecognizable in the worst ways. the warmth and authenticity are gone. back in the y2k days, people were more affable, more laid back, just enjoying the moment without all the tension and division everywhere. there was a simplicity, a sense of wonder, an easygoing charm that made the world and the internet feel inviting. somewhere along the way, that feeling faded.
now everything feels colder, chaotic, disconnected. like the world and the internet lost their soul. that shift feels irreversible, and it makes me miss the y2k era more than ever.
i stayed on twitter, not for attention, but for the impact. the msgs i got, the people who found meaning in my words... that's what made it worth it. sometimes even people in the gaming industry would reach out and tell me something i said resonated with them. those moments gave twitter real value for me. they made it feel like one of the few online spaces still worth holding onto.
twitter and my blog have become the main ways for friends and people across different communities to keep up with my life. i know they check both pretty often, and since not everyone is in ocean palace, i feel like it's important to share personal updates outside that space too. if my twitter ever disappears, my blog will always be here as a place to share my thoughts and updates.
i know a lot of you have sent me msgs over the years that i haven't replied to. that's been weighing on me for a long time. i hate the idea of anyone feeling ignored or unimportant, but i've just been overwhelmed. life's been throwing everything at me at once, and even when i wanted to reply, i just didn't have the energy.
for a long time, i worried that explaining any of this would sound like an excuse. but i realized the best thing i can do is just be real about it. i hope you understand. it was never about pushing anyone away. life's just been... a lot.
on a lighter note, i've seen the sonic unleashed pc port and the mods. you guys have been hitting me up about it nonstop. they're amazing. some of them hit me with a wave of nostalgia. the sonic modding scene never disappoints, but i just haven't had the time to dive in like i want to.
there's so much i want to do. personal projects, marble blast stuff, finally setting up the pc my sister gifted me ages ago, and playing the halo 2 e3 demo i've been dreaming about since 2004. i can't wait to jump in and share my thoughts when i do.
so here i am, more than a year later, finally taking a moment to catch up. it's been way too long, and i've missed this space. i've missed connecting with all of you. in the weeks ahead, i'm gonna be around more. hanging out in ocean palace, catching up, and just being present again 💕
life's still busy, especially with summer coming up. i'll be out more, spending time with friends, soaking up the season. but i'm hoping things slow down in the next couple months, and when they do, i'll be here more. sharing thoughts and whatever else is on my mind.
the world feels so different now. chaotic, overwhelming, disheartening, and honestly just... awful. but if anything, it's made me appreciate how lucky i am to have lived through the early 2000s and to have built something like ocean palace that's still standing strong. it's like a piece of the y2k era frozen in time, a lil corner of the internet that still feels like home, no matter how much everything else changes.
i can't even put into words how grateful i am for the amazing friends in my life, and for everyone in ocean palace who's been part of this journey from the start. you mean more to me than you know.
every new day feels like a chance to grow and move forward, and i feel that through the love and support around me. life's a gift, one we owe entirely to God's grace. when i look back on everything since childhood, every joy, every challenge, i see his hand in all of it, and i'm endlessly grateful.
thanks for reading, for sticking around, for everything. it means more to me than you know.
catch you soon. x

Wow, this really hits home for me, man. I lost my best friend 4 years ago, and it was a really dark time, but exercise became my outlet. Losing someone close is unbelievably tough.
Also, everything you said about the 2000s is so true. All my best memories are from that era too. Things definitely felt different after that decade ended.

no worries about taking time away. life happens, and real ones always understand
I was just chatting with your sister the other day, and we ended up reminiscing about those old online communities we were part of back in the early 2000s. It really hit me how much things have changed since then. Wish we could bring those times back somehow, they were something special. Feels bittersweet looking back on it all! 🌸
Oh, and Hailey, you’re as beautiful as ever! ❤️
Wish we could bring those early Y2K days back. I miss that era so much 💔
Love you, Hailey 🩷
I get the nostalgia for the early 2000s. Things felt so different back then. It's comforting to hear someone else articulate those same thoughts so well.
Where can I join this Ocean Palace? Is it a Discord server?
You put into words what so many of us feel. The internet just isn't the same anymore. Glad you still have a place that feels right.
